“Summer Flashback Sock Hop” Brings 1950s Fun to the Baker Community Center
Family Fest and Dance Set for Saturday, August 16, 2025

Get ready to twist and shout! The St. Charles History Museum invites the community to jump back in time at its Summer Flashback Sock Hop on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Baker Community Center, 101 S. 2nd Street.

The Sock Hop is a fun, family-friendly event celebrating the spirit of the 1950s with vintage tunes, classic cars, and retro-style fun for all ages. Guests will enjoy dancing to a live DJ, hula hoop contests, a chance to learn 1950s dances, classic cars, and even a food truck serving up pretzels, hot dogs, and burgers. Admission includes one soda and one ice cream per ticketed guest. Be there by 5 PM to see the exciting Flash Mob Dance!

"Summer Flashback is all about celebrating the history of summer in St. Charles. A 1950s Sock Hop is the centerpiece of the summer season. And our guests are encouraged to show up in their 50s finest," said Alex Cullum, Executive Director of the St. Charles History Museum. "This is a great way for families to enjoy an evening together—dancing, playing, and stepping back into a time of poodle skirts and jukeboxes."

The event is open to the public, and advance ticket purchase is highly recommended.
