January Shutdown 2019

  • St. Charles History Museum 215 East Main Street St. Charles, IL, 60174 United States (map)

The St. Charles History Museum will be shutting down after the Annual Meeting and Open House through the first week in February. During which time we will be doing major maintenance and cleaning. This year we will be focusing on rearranging office space for staff and volunteers as well as working on creating a better workspace in the archives. We will also be uninstalling our WWI exhibit, repacking textiles, installing our new temporary exhibit, and finalizing areas in the permanent exhibit.

This regular maintenance is a big part of ensuring that we are able to tell the most accurate and interesting stories about St. Charles history and be able to present the museum the best we can to the public.

Help is needed in shifts of 2 hours or more during the dates between Tuesday, January 8, and Tuesday, February 12th, during the hours from 10am-4pm. Sign up to help us paint, move offices, and create a better workspace in the archives. We will also be deep cleaning and organize all spaces in the museum including the exhibit hall, the gift shop and all public spaces. All ages from 6th grade and up are welcome!
